Things to Do

Loudon County

Visit Loudon County Website

There are a number of cute little towns to visit in the surrounding areas: Leesburg, Hillsboro, Lovettsville and Purcellville (Brad and Evelyn's home starting in February 2025).


There are plenty of wineries, cideries and breweries! A few of Brad and Evelyn's favorites: Stone Tower, Sunset Hills, Endhardt and Bluemont Vineyard

Washington, DC

There are National Monuments like the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials and the Washington Monument, the Smithsonian Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, the National Mall and the National Zoo to visit. Some sites that are free may require you to sign up for a ticket.

One interesting thing to do is to take an open air trolley tour of DC. Trolley Tours Website


Brad and Evelyn have been living just outside of Georgetown (until February 2025). There are plenty of places to shop, dine, parks and areas to stroll. Visit Georgetown Website


There are also 26 Michelin start restaurants in DC! Brad, of course, has taken Evelyn to quite a few so far :)

Northern Virginia

Arlington National Cemetery is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit Arlington Cemetery Website


Downtown Alexandria is a wonderful place with cozy restaurants and small shops with centuries old brick-lined streets. Visit Alexandria Website


Mt. Vernon is the home of George Washington. Visit Mt. Vernon Website



Maryland

Annapolis is Maryland's capital and a charming city on the Chesapeake Bay. Plenty of shops, restaurants to visit as well as the Naval Academy. Visit Annapolis Website


Baltimore is home to a fantastic aquarium. You can also go see an O's game (Evelyn's favorite sports team)! Visit Baltimore Website


Downtown Frederick in western Maryland is another charming town with shops and restaurants. Evelyn's brother also works at McClintock Distilling! Visit Frederick Website

Charlottesville, VA

Charlottesville is a great place for wineries, breweries, restaurants and on the outskirts is Jefferson's plantation, Monticello. Just 30 minutes further west is Shenandoah National Park as well! Visit Charlottesville Website
